This document is a plain-language description of how Woven handles personal information.
It is provided as a starting point and should be reviewed by legal counsel before launch.
Woven ("Woven," "we," "us") helps people gather photos and videos from friends and family
and weave them into a shared gallery and slideshow film for weddings, celebrations, memorials,
and other gatherings. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with,
and the choices you have. It applies to wovenmemories.com and the Woven web app.
1. Who this policy covers
- Gallery owners — people who create a gallery and sign in with a Google account.
- Contributors — guests who add photos or videos to a gallery via a share link, without creating an account.
- Viewers — anyone who opens a shared gallery or slideshow link.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details (owners): your name and email address, provided through Google sign-in (Google OAuth). We do not receive or store your Google password.
- Photos, videos, and captions: the media you or your contributors upload, plus any titles, captions, event details, dates, and the display name a contributor enters when adding photos.
- Payment information: if you upgrade to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive a confirmation and limited details (such as the amount and that the payment succeeded); we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Communications: messages you send us and feedback you submit.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data needed to operate the service — for example device and browser type, approximate connection quality (to adapt uploads), and error logs.
- Photo metadata: we read the capture date/time (EXIF) from photos to order them correctly. We do not use embedded GPS location for any product feature.
- An anonymous identifier for contributors, so a guest can manage the photos they personally added during a session. This is not linked to a named account.
3. How we use information
- To create, display, and organize your gallery and slideshow film.
- To automatically analyze uploaded photos so we can group, title, and arrange them (see "Automated processing" below).
- To detect and remove unlawful content, including child sexual abuse material (see Section 6).
- To process payments and provide paid features.
- To send transactional emails (for example, "your film is ready," upload reminders, and receipts).
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Automated processing (AI)
To build your slideshow, uploaded photos are processed by automated systems, including
Google Cloud Vision (safety screening) and Google Gemini
(to suggest chapter titles, tags, an estimated era, and to group related photos). This processing
is used to organize your gallery and is not used to build advertising profiles. No automated
decision produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- With people you invite: anyone who holds your gallery's share link can view the gallery. Co-hosts you approve can help manage it.
- With service providers who operate the product under our instructions: Google Firebase / Google Cloud (hosting, database, storage, AI), Stripe (payments), and Resend (email delivery).
- For legal and safety reasons: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of Woven, our users, or the public — including mandatory reporting of apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
- In a business transfer: if Woven is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction.
6. Content safety
Uploaded images are automatically screened. Content that appears to be child sexual abuse
material is removed and reported to NCMEC as required by U.S. law, and related records are
retained as the law requires. Other sensitive content may be withheld from a gallery pending
the owner's review.
7. Sharing and visibility
Woven galleries work on a "link is the key" model: anyone with a gallery's link can view it,
and galleries are not indexed by search engines. Please share links only with people you intend
to give access. Owners and their approved co-hosts can remove photos and manage the gallery.
8. Data retention
- Gallery content is retained while the gallery is active. Uploading may close after a set
window (for example, several months to a year after a gallery is created, depending on plan).
- Generated slideshow files and download archives are temporary and are deleted automatically after a short period.
- We retain limited records (such as payment and safety-report records) as required for legal, accounting, and security purposes.
- You may request deletion of your gallery and associated media (see Section 10).
9. Children
Woven is intended for adults (18+). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from children for their own accounts. Galleries created by adults may,
of course, contain photographs that include children — those are managed by the adult gallery owner.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your
personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, or to
ask us to delete a gallery, contact us at support@wovenmemories.com.
Contributors who wish to remove a photo they added can use the delete option shown on their own
uploads, or ask the gallery owner. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
11. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls, to
protect information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot
guarantee absolute security.
12. International users
Woven is operated from the United States, and information is processed and stored in the U.S.
and other countries where our providers operate. By using Woven, you understand your information
may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date
above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
